Endorsement and voting information
To the membership of the Kenosha Newspaper Guild, TNG-CWA Local 34159:
A majority of your Executive Board voted recently to endorse Bernie Lunzer for Newspaper Guild international president, along with his slate of candidates: Carol Rothman (secretary-treasurer), Connie Knox (sector chair) and Tony Winton (Region 2 vice president).
Local voting will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the Guild office, 5713 Eighth Ave.
The majority of the board is backing Lunzer because we believe he would work best to foster strong relationships with smaller TNG locals such as ours. We also believe Lunzer would be the best candidate to represent TNG’s interests on the board of our umbrella union, the Communication Workers of America.
When we look at the current regime led by Lunzer’s opponent, Linda Foley, a 12-year presidential incumbent, we believe it is Lunzer who shows a greater dedication to the needs of smaller locals such as ours. For the last 12 years, Lunzer has been in the secretary-treasurer position. Current and former officers from our local have always found him to be accessible and responsive to our questions and concerns.
We are pleased to endorse him.
Sincerely,
Mike Larsen, Bill Siel, Joe Potente, Mark Hornickel, Bill Guida, Liz Snyder and Laura Tucker
DISSENTING OPINION
I support Linda Foley because she has the experience, the know-how and savvy to continue to advocate for the Guild at the CWA level. The disruption and learning curve that a new administration would involve don’t seem to be worth the change.
Sincerely,
John Krerowicz
